Lou Clark loses her job.  She tries varies other jobs but none that she is happy with.  Lou lives with her mother and father, grandfather, sister and nephew.  She has a boyfriend whom she has been seeing for the last seven years.

 

Lou Clark needs work as her family rely on the money she can bring in.  She goes back to the employment agency, and as he is checking his system, a new vacancy comes in.  It’s good pay and is close to where she is living.  The job is to look after a quadriplegia.

 

Lou dresses very smartly for the interview, not the type of clothes she would normally wear, on any given occasion, but her mother and sister encourage her.  As we get to know Lou Clark, she loves clothes, but they are bright in colour and often clash.

 

She goes for the interview and gets the job.

 

The job involves her taking care of Will Traynor, who previously had a very active life.  He drove a motorcycle but on this ill-fated day his girlfriend told him not to and it was raining very hard.

 

It was when Will was waiting for a taxi, that he got knocked down, not by a car, but by a motorcyclist.

 

Will is paralyzed from the neck downwards.  He has incredible pain, even several months after the accident.  Thing for Will, will never get better.  In fact they will only get worse.

 

At first Lou has a problem with Will.  Will is withdrawn from her and actually told her to keeper her chatter down.  Lou is a very chatting person.

 

It was after Will girlfriend came with his best friend, and announced to Will that they were getting married that Lou actually told Will what she thought of him.

 

When Will girlfriend and his best friend left, he managed to smash the photographs, on a cabinet.  Lou had come running in and she had picked them up.  Will did not want Lou around but in order to keep busy, she tried to mend the frames.  While she was doing this he came in.  He was not too happy about what she was doing and she apologized for not thinking.  This is when she told him what she thought of him.  After this Will and Lou got on much better.

 

Lou accidentally hears Will’s mother and father speaking.  Will has given his parents 6 more months and then he was going to Switzerland.  Switzerland is the only country in the world that allows foreign people to opt for euthanasia.

 

At first Lou does not want the job anymore but her sister talks to her.  Lou’s sister tells her, give him something to live for, organize trips and advents for Will to do.  Give Will the purpose to want to carry on living.

 

Lou takes on this job with a vengeance. 

 

She spends so much time on this project that her boyfriend get very jealous and leaves her.  Lou does not stop from leaving.  I guess in her hearts of hearts she has realized she has fallen in love with Will.

 

Will has also fallen in love with her.

 

The six months are nearly over and Lou has found out that Will has not change his mind and Lou is devastated.  Will ask Lou to go to Switzerland, but she refuses to do so.

 

It is a well written sorry and the characters come to life.  It’s easy to read and very hard to put down.
